The LCC Kenya Mission Team 2011 is pictured with the Hyodo family at the Comido School in the Kwa Njenga Slum.

Tonight, we are settling in for the evening on the team's last night here in Kenya. After a week and a half of hard work and ministry, we are so thankful for this wonderful team who sacrificed so much to serve others. Although they had their silly side, their faith in God always helped point them the way to go.

The thing, however, that was so striking about this team was not in how they overcame challenges, or how hard they worked, or how they shared their hearts by forming relationships with the people of Kenya, but it was in their focus on God. Each day they shared devotions and prayed together. Jesus Christ was the focus of their trip.

Tonight, after an exhausting week of ministry, we asked the team what they wanted to do on their last day before leaving tomorrow in the evening. It was a free day where we thought we might take them to the giraffe center or to do some souvenir shopping. Their response, however, displayed where they were really at: Kaili said that she really wanted to make their last day devoted to ministry. All agreed that they wanted to either visit the Farm again or go the Mathare slum to visit with the Mcedo School children.

So you parents out there in cyberspace, these are your kids. And to the Lighthouse Christian Church family, this is your mission team-and along with the leadership of Trenton and Erika, they are the fruit of a church with a heart to touch the lives of others all the way on the opposite side of the world. God bless you!
